We´ve met in Holland, when we were 24 years old, working a part time job in a local pub. We were living a typical “young couples” life, working to spend it on the good life. But after 4 years we needed a change and we DECIDED to leave our jobs and look for adventure.

At the age of 28, we took a plane to Spain to look for a summer job. With 1500$ in our pockets we went hunting for jobs and a place to stay. But the entrepreneurial blood we´ve received from our parents made it happen that, with a down payment of 1500$, we rented our own little bar for the summer. Without a place to stay and no money left, we returned to Holland to work there for a few more months until summer started.

The bar was in a famous Spanish holiday resort and after a rough start we understood the trick how to make money in a tourist resort. Now we started to duplicate this trick and started to create our own small empire of bars and restaurants.

After the first few years the business became very profitable and we lived a good life….at least that was how it looked from the outside.

A big house, nice cars, expensive private schools, a cleaning lady, a nanny, a gardener…pure luxury.

But the truth was that Roy was working between 16 and 20 hours per day…7 days per week, 10 months per year while Laura was home alone with the children.

A long story short…our kids grew up without a father for the first 10 years of their lives.

Then in 2008, crisis struck Spain heavily.

We started to lose business after business in the next couple of years and when we only had one restaurant left, we realized that something needed to change.

So one morning we woke up and made that DECISION. We sold the last restaurant, paid off our debts…and Roy took a job in construction.

But construction work wasn´t well paid, and there was no way that we could pay our bills at the end of the month. So we had no other choice than to fall behind on the mortgage payments.

This resulted in losing the last thing we owned…our house.

We went from a villa and luxury, to a small rented place. And still we weren´t able to pay the bills. Resulting in various periods of time without the "luxury" of water, heating, or electricity.

We literally went from riches to rags.

Again, we needed to make a DECISION to change our life. This couldn´t continue like this. This life was unworthy to our children!

But what to do?

Roy bumped into this small little ad on the internet about a young boy making millions online and thought…that is what we want! Build a business online, work from home so we can recuperate a little of my lost time with the whole family.

It wasn´t as easy as he made it look, but it did work!
We started to make some extra income online and soon enough we were ready to go for the next step. We DECIDED to let go off the construction job and focus full time on the internet.

Being used by now to live on a “lower level”, we maintained this level of life so Roy was able to invest the larger part of the earnings into coaches and mentors. He travelled a lot for seminars and has been trained by some of the best in the industry.

Applying his knowledge, learned from mentors in the USA and the UK, in a Spanish market, soon gave Roy some authority in internet marketing field in the Spanish speaking market.

Now people started to contact him for coaching and mentoring and he realized while he was making money in a semi automated way, that he really enjoyed helping other people building their success.

But even though life was good again, one big dream never came through.

That dream, travelling through the United States for at least 3 months, with our family needed to become reality…and quick! Quick because our children were growing up fast, and soon wouldn´t want to travel with their parents anymore.

So again…it was time to make a DECISION!

The DECISION to EXPLORE FREEDOM for real!

Now it was time to set a date!

But still….we didn´t dare to.

But you know the saying…when the student is ready, the mentor will appear.

And he appeared!

One day when Roy picked up our daughter from school, he saw this old 1920´s car parked along the roadside. Instantly his mind made a click and realized that was the car we once saw on television. It was the car of a spectacular Argentinean family who had been travelling the world for 17 years in their 1928 oldtimer. Their 4 children all were born on the road during this trip. He didn´t doubt for a moment, turned around and parked behind it with the intention to meet this family. People who are doing what your dream is, (even though it was not our plan to travel for 17 years in an old-timer) are people we want to know personally.

We have learned that you should always listen to those who have what you want. The best advice we have ever got and the best advice we can give you.

There was this immediate click and from there we have become good friends. A friendship that, as you will understand, changed everything for us, our family and hopefully for you as well.

One day, when we were celebrating the birthday of Herman Zapp, Roy sat down with Herman on the side of his car and they talked about our dreams and fears. The fear that we might lose our business again when we are not attending it during our trip. The fear of not having enough money to start the trip, for during the trip and more importantly….for after the trip. Should we take the risk to give up everything to go for our dream?

His answer was simple….and it changed our life!

“You don´t need a lot of money to start travelling.
And don´t ever let your business control your dreams…let your dreams control your business!”

Boom!

That simple!

Wow! And all those years we were doing just the opposite.

20 YEARS!!!

20 years we have been dreaming of travelling, making our ultimate dream smaller and smaller until there was only a small dream left of a 3 month road trip in the US!

That same day we gathered our family together and we have set a date.
A date to start travelling. Not for 3 months, but for at least 1 year! And after that?....who knows….

Even if you have the money for it, chances are that when you come back, your job is gone or your business is broke. The risks are simply too big to take that decision....at least....that is how we are programmed.

We are programmed to study, get a job, maybe even build your own business, work hard for 40 years, and then start enjoying your freedom

But after 42 years, living that routine, that way of thinking became unacceptable for me. I decided to change that routine.

I decided I wanted to live in freedom NOW, and not wait until I am retired.

So I did take that decision to say goodbye to my old life and start a new life.

I am not saying you have to do that as well. I am saying to change your way of thinking and prepare yourself for a different life. A new life!

A life where you can live in freedom NOW...well....in 12 to 18 months from now.

But the liberation in your mind, knowing that in a year from now your life could be completely different, actually already is freedom!
